Bunaíodh Craobh úr de chuid Chonradh na Gaeilge in ómós d’iarr Phríomhoide na scoile Diarmuid Ó Tuama. Tá bród orainn go bhfuil an Craobh seo lonnaithe sa scoil.
The recent census news which placed our community area of Shaw’s Road, Andersonstown and the Glen Road areas as the area of highest daily usage of the Irish language in the north came as a great boost and a fantastic reminder of the role our school and its families have played and continue to play in the Irish language revival. The news that a new branch of the now 130 year old ‘Conradh na Gaeilge’ was to be named after our former Príomhoide Diarmuid Ó Tuama who passed away at the start of the year was a fitting tribute to this key contributor in the now burgeoning Irish Language community. The night classes which form part of this branch have been much bigger than anticipated and there are now 4 classes as well as a waiting list, with many of our school parents as well as members of our local community embarking on their own Irish language journey. There have also been historical talks and our parents recently sat their Irish language oral exam as they strive for their Silver Fáinne. Great stuff and this should help ensure that our vibrant Gaelic community continues to further grow the use of our native language. Well done to all. Maith sibh.
